JH:  Athletes who are humble yet successful:

RM:  How many years have you been competing?

JH:  40+


RM:  What fuels your competitiveness?

JH:  To push my mental and physical boundaries

JH:  Calistoga, Cal (Napa)

RM:  Lone wolf or training companion? why?

JH:  I would like to train more with groups but matching training and personal schedules is hard so I am mostly a lone wolf.

Pinnacle racing moment so far?
2016 Collegiate Club Nationals - the UC Davis Tri team, I coach, finished 11th overall in the men's/women's combined.  This race is the pinnacle of the sport at the Collegiate level and our team did a fantastic job competing again top flight schools from the big 5 power conferences around the United States.


RM:  What are you training for now?

JH:  Olympic distance triathlons and 10 k road races


RM:  Training secrets? Care to share?

JH:  Maintain a consistent training regime by listening to your body, resisting the urge to train/race when you know you should not, resting when needed, and avoiding injuries.


RM:  Do you have a dream race you want to create?

JH:  A triathlon that is handicapped based on PRs.  Slowest athletes begin first and the fastest athletes go last.
