RM:  How did you find your sport of choice?
SM:  The gym I worked out in high school the owners are triathletes and told me to give it a “tri.” Went on a “get-to-know-ya” run around campus with the team and never left.

RM:  What drives your competitiveness?
SM:  Just to be a better athlete the next race

RM:  Athlete that inspires you? Why?
SM:  Anthony Ervin- He wins an Olympic gold medal when he’s 19, quits the sport and auctions his medal for money to send to tsunami relief, then comes back and wins another gold medal at 35. That’s a cool dude.

RM:  How many years have you been competing?
SM:  3 years

RM:  Perfect weekend workout trip... where to? what do you bring? Itemize it! Tell us why it's in your car and why we need it.
SM:  Tahoe, run in the morning. Go for a hike afterwards. Then spend the afternoon on the beach swimming and playing volleyball.

RM:  Group Training or do you prefer solitude? why?
SM:  I like small groups. Being able to encourage and push one another and feed off of each other’s energy is always exciting

RM:  Best result so far?
SM:  Being a part of our nationals team that got 11th.

RM:  What are you working on right now?
SM:  Helping out new members to the team and get them excited for the sport
