  • RM:  How many years have you been competing?
  • 3.5

  • RM:  What have been some of the craziest things you have witnessed while training, competing or traveling?
  • I was at the start line of Ironman Florida 2014 with 15 ft waves and a 30+ mph wind and I was mentally ready to swim bike and run through all of that but ultimately the swim was canceled due to the fact that the life guards were unable to get past the break.

  • RM:  What fuels your competitiveness? What color do you feel the fastest in?
  • My teammates are my best drive to push myself hard. Whether they are coming up on the run or are rabbits for me on the bike.

  • RM:  How has your approach changed from the beginning of the season to the end to make you a better at each stage as you head to nationals?
  • Now that the weather is finally breaking, there is definitely a lot more biking and running and less swimming! A lot less swimming!

  • RM:  What is your goal as you head to nationals? First out of the water? Top 10? Best split?
  • I would love to compete for the transition title because that is about the only thing that I might have a shot in

  • RM:  How are you feeling? Did you have any injuries you had to over come? Are you peaking at the right time?
  • I have a big race 2 weeks later that I am trying to peak for but I don't have any injuries so I am ready to rock and roll.

  • RM:  What is your long view? Where do you see yourself in a few years? Still competing? Working professionals?
  • I start a job in August where I will be working with athletes in Miami Florida and as a hot spot for triathletes I hope to be working and racing with some of the best triathletes in the country

  • RM:  When you think about Nationals... what gets you the most excited? The most anxious? Instills the most concern?
  • Nationals and the atmosphere surrounding the race is the most exciting time of year. Ever since my time in Tempe, this is something that I looked forward to year round and as my last national championship, there are no nerves (yet). I am just looking to soak up everything that I can.

  • RM:  What equipment changes have you made through the year and most importantly as you head to Nationals?
  • Since last year, I upgraded my tri bike to di2 shifting which has radically improved my climbing so I am excited to hit the rollers on the course this year.

  • RM:  Training secrets? Care to share? Favorite quote?
  • Do something everyday with a purpose - training secret and quote

  • RM:  What do you geek out on besides Triathlon?
  • college hockey and golf

  • RM:  Do you have a dream race you want to create?
  • it would be crazy to have a big time race in little ol Oxford Ohio but it would never happen

  • keep it mello - marshmello
  • runaway - galantis
  • id  - kygo
